Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2 July 2026
These terms are a legal agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Roux", "we", "us") governing your use of the Roux app and website. By creating an account or using Roux, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Roux.
1. The service
Roux is a private recipe app: you save recipes from links, text, photos, and videos into your own library, organise and scale them, build grocery and pantry lists, and cook hands-free. Some features use AI to parse and enrich recipes.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least [16 / 18 — confirm with counsel] to use Roux. By using Roux you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. Your account
Roux uses passwordless sign-in (a one-time email code or Apple/Google sign-in). You are responsible for keeping access to your email and devices secure and for activity under your account.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the recipes, notes, and other content you add ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to store and process Your Content solely to provide the service to you and the households you share with (including sending it to our AI processors to parse, scale, or search it, as described in the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for having the right to save and share what you add.
5. Content from third-party sources
When you save a recipe from a website or social post, Roux extracts the recipe into your private library and records the source attribution and URL. We do not republish it publicly. You are responsible for your use of third-party content and for respecting the source's rights and terms. If you are a rights-holder and believe content should be removed, contact [LEGAL/CONTACT EMAIL] and we will act on valid notices.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Roux to store or share unlawful content, to infringe others' rights, to abuse or attempt to break the service, to reverse-engineer it, or to bypass usage limits. We may suspend or remove content or accounts that breach these terms. To report illegal content, contact [LEGAL/CONTACT EMAIL].
7. AI features — please review
Roux uses AI to parse, transcribe, scale, and search recipes. AI output can be wrong or incomplete. Roux presents parsed recipes for you to review and confirm before you rely on them. Always check ingredients, quantities, and steps against the original source. Roux is a convenience tool, not an authority.
8. Allergen and dietary information — important
Roux may highlight possible allergens in a recipe to help you. This is a best-effort warning, not a guarantee:
- The absence of a warning does not mean a recipe is safe. Allergen detection can miss ingredients, misread quantities, or lack information about preparation, cross-contamination, or brand variations.
- Roux does not certify any recipe as safe for any allergy or diet.
- If you have a food allergy, intolerance, or medical dietary need, always verify ingredients yourself and consult a qualified professional. Do not rely on Roux for safety-critical decisions.
9. Nutrition and health
Any nutrition or dietary information in Roux is approximate and provided for general interest only. Roux makes no medical or health claims and is not medical or dietary advice. Consult a qualified professional for advice about your diet or health.
10. Subscriptions and payments
Roux is free to use with a monthly allowance of AI-assisted saves. Roux Pro unlocks unlimited AI ingestion and additional features:
- Monthly — £1.99 per month
- Annual — £14.99 per year
- Lifetime — £39, one-time
Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their terms and billing. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings — not by uninstalling the app. Lifetime is a one-time purchase and does not renew. Prices may change; we will notify you of changes to a subscription you hold as required by the stores and by law.
11. Your right to cancel (EU/UK consumers)
Digital content is supplied as soon as you buy and begin using it. Where you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, you acknowledge that by starting to use a purchased feature you request immediate supply and, to the extent permitted by law, may lose that right once supply has begun. Refund requests for App Store / Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
12. Changes and availability
We may update, add, or remove features, and we may change or discontinue the service. We aim to keep Roux available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
13. Termination
You may stop using Roux and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account & data, or getroux.io/delete-account). We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms.
14. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roux is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make relying on AI output, allergen warnings, or nutrition information. [Confirm liability caps and consumer-law carve-outs with counsel.]
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [England and Wales — confirm], and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
